Do you underestimate your competence and potential, if so Why?
Have you neglected your potential lately?
Many people put themselves down, by pointing out their inability’s, inadequacies and weaknesses. They underestimate their capabilities, competence and potential. For
instance, if you hear yourself thinking, “Here I go again, making a stupid mistake. I’ll never get it right,” question your inner thought. Ask, “Why am I talking to myself so negatively?” Then, challenge this negative dialogue by telling yourself, “I can get things right.
Do these sound familiar? “I’m too old to do something new.” “I won’t be any good at it.” “People will laugh.” Are these the kinds of things, you tell yourself when opportunity strikes? When you determine the result or the outcome before you even start, you have already considered rejection or failure. And when this happens, it’s easy to come up with excuses for not even trying.
Your potential is the part of you that seeks your best self. It is the part of you that aspires to learn and grow as an individual. Your potential shines when you find fulfillment in what you do best. What may be fulfilling for you may not be for others. Take an inventory of your gifts, talents and abilities. Your satisfaction, motivation and peace of mind in life are all tied to meeting your potential. If you have been neglecting your potential, you know what to do!
Your thoughts and beliefs are a mold for your attitude. If your thoughts are negative and self-defeating, your attitude will be the same. If your thoughts are positive and uplifting, your outlook to life will be positive. What you think about most makes you what you are.
It’s the repetition of the same old negative thoughts that keeps you stuck. If you want to change your attitude, use the same repetitive method. Repetitive, self-empowering thoughts are the key. This transformation will be gradual and require persistence. Once you adopt these positive affirmations, don't get discouraged if your negative thoughts don't immediately disappear. Keep at it and you will soon see definite results.
You need to vow to never, ever underestimate yourself or limit what you can achieve. Instead of thinking in terms of what you “can’t” do, think in terms of what you “can” do. Remember, you have the ability. You’re perfectly adequate. You possess limitless potential, because you’re you! You possess the ability to do ANYTHING!
Never underestimate yourself.
